I think I need to find or make a better cooking icon. All the food ones I have are either too specific or too generic.

Tom accidentally got this great picture of Riker when he paused his DVD. We decided it had to be an icon. So, I made one.

It will take some actual staging of pictures, but here's the idea:

Shot 1: a huge pile of books on my nightstand, with the caption "20th century To Read pile"

fade to

Shot 2: my Kindle, zoomed in enough that you can see the text on the screen, with the caption "21st century To Read pile"

Comments? Suggestions? Heckles?

Well, most people voted for this one, so it's my new default.

I'm tired of my default icon, but can't decide which of my other icons to replace it with.

Which of my current icons do you guys think I should switch to?

Leave a comment and I will pick three of your interests and three of your icons I would like you to explain. Post them in your journal and allow others to comment and request the same. Grabbed from [livejournal.com profile] uncacreamy, and she asked be about:

Interests:
Athena's thimble: Athena's thimble is the East Kingdom of the SCA's embroidery guild. It's a sub-group where you can show off your work, learn new techniques, and discuss the craft of embroidery. I haven't been very active lately, but it's still one of my favorite parts of the SCA.

Fiber arts: My favorite craft is embroidery, and I want to learn just about every other fiber art I've ever heard of: spinning, weaving, knitting, crochet, tatting, dying, etc.

Progressive politics: Progressivism historically advocates the advancement of workers' rights and social justice (two of my favorite causes). (I swiped that from Wikipedia's entry.) Ordinary people using political means to make life better for themselves and other ordinary people . I'm nowhere near as active as I should be.

Icons:
Tarzan: Tom & I joke that Disney cartoonists snuck into his home and used him as a model for their version of Tarzan. I use that icon sometimes when I'm talking about Tom.
Blue Fractal: It's pretty, and I use it for times that I don't have an icon that strikes me as a perfect fit for the topic.
Sleeping Bear Dunes: The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a park in northern Michigan that is one of my favorite places on earth. My family went camping there just about every summer when I was a kid. It's got miles of beaches on Lake Michigan, and because it's so big you can find a spot that's just as crowded (or empty) as you're in the mood for.

At [livejournal.com profile] purpura's request, I made her this icon:

Hope you like it!

It took me a long time, but here you go:

It's not the greatest picture, but it was the only one I could find of a Lamia that wasn't more or less obscene. If you have any pictures you'd like me to turn in to icons for you, let me know.

1 -- Reply to this post!
2 -- I will tell you which of *YOUR* icons I like the most.
3 -- Then post this to your own journal using YOUR favorite icon.

I don't know that this is my overall favorite, but I like it a lot and don't get to use it that often.

I was neutral to positive on the new layout of the posting page, but this is ridiculous! I just spent the last half hour trying to post some of my latest graphic creations, and it was not co-operating.

The automatic "insert images from my Scrapbook" feature seems to be completely broken, and when I gave up on that and went to add them by hand, the lj-cut wasn't working the way it should.

If you want to see what I was trying to post, check out this gallery.
