I think I want this

Tidy Cats Breeze Cats Litter Box System, 1-Count Kit: Amazon.com: Grocery

A little pricey, but if it doesn't lead to litter all over the bathroom and dust tracked all over the apartment, then it might be worth it.

My Boys hated it. Absolutely detested the 'litter'.

Ended up getting rid of it.}:/

That would be the risk. It's a lot of money for something that might not get used.

Yeah, even with a nice coupon, it was still a good chunk of money.}:/

But... if they won't use it, what can you do?

Hope you have better luck with that stuff than we have. Unfortunately, the only thing we've ever found that keeps kitty litter off the floor is ... a broom and a lot of diligence.

Yup.

Well, this sounds like it would create less dust, which would be an improvement even if they still kick the litter itself out.

I don't know, I'm just thinking about it. I should ask Tom if he thinks it would be worth the money. Cleaning the litter box is mostly his job.

My in-laws once got us one of those mechanical litterboxes that scoops the litter for you. It was a total fail and we got rid of it within a week, but Jam was entertainingly terrified of it.

That's not a nice thing to do to an old cat. It would probably work fine if you started a kitten with one though.

He was young at the time. :) And those things are pretty loud. They have the potential to scare humans too.

It might be worth just getting a bag of the litter... smaller investment. If they will use the new litter in the old box, then get the new box.

The litter isn't absorbent, so it will only work right with the rest of system.

Good idea though. :-)

We've been using this for probably about 6 mos now and while it does not totally eliminate litter pellets getting on the floor, it does diminish it a lot.

Also one of our cats is EXTREMELY particular about his box and seems to really like this one (as evidenced by the fact that he uses it).

I should warn you though, the time it says you can go btwn pad changes is grossly overestimated. We are a 2 cat household and have to change the pad at LEAST every 3 days - more like every other day.

Now granted, finicky cat has some bladder/kidney issues and puts out A LOT of urine, so YMMV.

Thanks for the info. :-)
