Dentist Visit & Girly TMI

I just got back from my first dentist visit in years. Definitely my first since moving to Albany, maybe even my first since high school.

They said that my teeth were actually in very good shape for such a long gap. No gum disease, surprisingly little tarter, and only one cavity. They also said that I have one impacted wisdom tooth, but since it's not giving me any grief they don't think anything needs to be done about it right now.

I made an appointment to have the cavity filled on March 7th, and my next regular visit will be in September.

On a less cheerful note, my period started last night. OK. I don't mind the bleeding, it's messy but part of life. Also, it is nice to have the proof that my birth control choices continue to work. What I don't understand are the side-effects. Why does my back need to feel like someone has been hitting me with a baseball bat? Why does my appetite go screwy, so that some months I'm unable to stop eating and others I can barely force myself to eat at all? Why the other digestive issues? Why the mood swings, so extreme some cycles and non-existent others? Why does all of my energy just vanish? Why all the discomfort, dammit?

I wonder that about my period too, although at least I have some "freedom" from it while I'm pregnant (there are tradeoffs, I suppose ;) )

I'm glad the visit to the dentist went well, anyway! Nothing like having better news than you were expecting.

I guess the lack of energy can be explained by the fact that you're leaking iron for almost a week, but the rest of it makes no sense!

I don't remember if I've said anything before, but congratulations on the baby. When are you due?

May 26...as for lack of energy, well, I guess your body is also doing a heck of a lot of work expelling all that, so there you go. And hormones exhaust you - it was amazing how tiring I was during the first trimester thanks to raging hormones!

What I never could understand is why my body, which has been having periods for well over a decade, can't figure out how to do it more efficiently and less painfully...
