I Just Had An Idea For A Music Podcast

Songs that are so long that they never get played on the radio, or even in most music podcasts.

Call the show "Long Songs" and every episode play five or six songs, all of which are at least 10 minutes long. I'd shoot for a total length of between 60 and 90 minutes. All genres except classical (because long pieces are fairly standard for classical music.)

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, by Iron butterfly!

That would definitely fit the format.

Alice's Restaurant.

That one's a given!

Also "The Story of Reuben Clamzo and His Strange Daughter," and maybe the "Significance of the Pickle" version of the Pickle Song. (Both also by Arlo Guthrie.)

Stairway to Heaven, obviously.

Dylan's "Desolation Row" and "Stuck Inside of Mobile" would fit.

And CSNY's "Suite Judy Blue Eyes" feels long, even though it isn't all that long really.

Ooooh, and the long version of "Layla."

Good suggestions. I bet there are other Led Zeppelin and CSNY songs that would also work, although I can't think of which ones.

Are you hoping to do this or is this a mental exercise?

It's 80+% a mental exercise. I think I could come up with play-lists, and find the songs, but getting the permissions would be a major hassle. I suspect it would run out of fun fairly quickly.
