Are there any foods or drinks where you love the smell, but don't actually like the taste?

For me it's coffee and chai. They both smell lovely, but I find them too bitter when I actually try to drink them.

Roasted chestnuts. Love the smell, but can't stand chestnuts in any form.

I don't think I've ever smelled (or eaten) roasted chestnuts, but I do like them raw. Something else to add to the "stuff to try" list.

Liver and onions.

Together. And then you get the dish and the liver is *so* disappointing.

I don't think I've ever had liver. It doesn't sound particularly appealing.

I've never met anyone who felt "meh" about liver. All reactions to it seem to be at the extremes.

I'm OK with Chai, but coffee is like that for me.

Also, certain cheeses smell maybe not lovely to me, but good - yet I don't like cheese at all. (Except on pizza covered in tomato sauce)

That's interesting. Everyone I know who doesn't like cheese also doesn't like the smell.

For the vast majority of cheeses, I don't. But there are one or two cheeses that I think smell sort of good. (I have no idea what they are)

The funny thing is though, cheese LOOKS good to me. I love the look and texture of it, but I cannot STAND the taste at all!
