This article on NPR the other day really surprised me:

Understanding the Gospel According to Huckabee

The reporter stopped people on the street and read (or played, I'm not sure which) bits of Huckabee's speeches in which he made biblical references.

The reporter than asked the people if they understood the references. Almost none of them did. One woman got all of them, and a few kind-of-sort-of got one or two.

I knew all of them. How many do you know?

I got them all, which should not surprise anyone. I am not a Huckabee supporter, though.

Huckabee scares me s***less. I was just really surprised at how few people got what are, to me, fairly straightforward and simple biblical references.

I got them all but as a missionaries'/pastors' kid, that doesn't surprise me.

But heaven only knows, I am NOT a Huckabee supporter!

That might be part of the reason I did well too. My Grandfather was a Methodist minister, my Father did a year of seminary before deciding he didn't want to be a minister, and I went to church 9 Sundays out of 10 (or more) until I got a job and started having to work Sunday mornings.
