Did you guys know that it was possible to use whip cream as a recreational drug? I didn't. Apparently it can be used as an inhalant, the same as anything else in a spray can...

I learn weird things at work.

Yup, nitrous oxide is how they get it to "whip" -- as some of my old college buddies would be able to tell you if they had any brain cells left.

People do weird stuff. I will never understand drug use.

I understand it -- having experimented with a couple of the psychedelics during my freshman year. Those days are long over -- I grew up and wised up. But I have friends from back then who never did grow up -- and there's nothing more pathetic than a 35-year-old stoner.

Yeah, it's called Whippits (tm). Been around since the '70s and regained in popularity in the past several years.

A 'friend*' of mine in high school once described the high to me. Can't say I'd EVER be tempted to give that a shot. Plus, you end up with whipped cream all over your nose. Where's the fun in that?

Are you going to Roses?

*Friend, as in co-worker at the grocery store where I worked.

Nope, I'll be in Maryland, attending Balticon.

Yeah, a lot of restaurants have trouble keeping the whipped cream chargers from disappearing, because of the nitrous oxide.

Thing is, a nitrous oxide high isn't that interesting. Ground feels bouncy like a bouncy-castle for a few minutes, you feel slightly giggly, and then it wears off. Meh. Not worth the trouble. Where's my margarita?

Most drugs sound like they aren't worth the trouble. I'll have a drink or two at a party, but other than that...

If I want to see a different reality, I'll dive into a book. Hours (or days) of altered perceptions.

Yup. They 'huff' it.
