Friday Is the World

Body: I'm doing pretty well today. I got enough sleep, and since I remembered to take my Zyrtec last night the itching has mostly gone away.

Reading: Utopia: Thomas More

Hearing: The Commonwealth Club of California

Etsy find: Some pretty notecards

Project Follow-up: Skipped the walk, since my hip was still bugging me. Dinner with the gang was lots of fun.

Tonight's Project: Walking. Tom is probably going to be spending time with a friend, but plans are still up in the air so I don't know what we're doing for dinner. I think I'm going to do some embroidery if I have time.

Randomness: Where do you want to travel to? I'm thinking more realistic plans than 6 month dream vacations. Personally, I'd like to go back to Montreal (I spent a few days there my senior year of high school) for maybe a long weekend. Visiting Boston for a regular weekend rather than for a con where I never leave the hotel would also be fun. And of course, a day trip to New York City would be great. It's been far to long since I went.

On travel... I'd love to have the time to go up to Jeff's grandfather's cabin in Maine, Boston is great fun, and I've never been to the fingerlakes region.

I'd love to go down to Florida, I've never been to Disney World! And Cape Canavral sounds like fun. Virginia has lots of places I want to go again. There are just tons of places within 10 hour drives I'd love to go too.

The Finger Lakes would also be great. Florida I could live without. Tom & I went with his family last year, and I think that was enough for a decade or so.

I'd also like to drag all of my friends to Cedar Point or The Sleeping Bear Dunes. But that's more in the Dream vacation category.

Montreal is a great town. I'm always so wrapped up in family stuff whenever I go there that I've never been just a tourist in it. But I do love it.

I'd love to go back to Boston, or anywhere in New England. And lately I've been wanting to see Chicago. Maybe it's having watched "Ferris Bueller" recently, but it just dawned on me that that might be a fun place to wind up at the end of a road trip.

I am amused to note that I will be going to both Boston and Chicago in the upcoming few months.
Where I will see...the inside of one hotel, no doubt.

It beats being a tourist, though. ;)

They've got a Ghiradelli Ice Cream Shop on Michigan Ave! And the museum is just like Ferris Bueller, but better.

Chicago is a great city. I went there to try out for teen jeopardy when I was in high school.

The late comedian Richard Jeni used to say: "Chicago was started by a bunch of guys from New York who said, 'Hmmm, I'm enjoying the crime and the poverty, but it just isn't cold enough. Let's move west!'"

I want to go back to London.

I also wouldn't mind a chance to go back to Hong Kong.

The former is likely to happen on my own nickel sometime soon, but the Hong Kong thing, honestly, is more curiosity about the city than any specific set of things I want to see or do there, so I'm just going to have to hope another excuse to go for work materializes.

London would be wonderful, but it's more in the dream category for me.
