A lot of people use GTalk precisely because workplaces block AIM and ICQ and so forth... GTalk is internet based so it's pretty impossible to block.

I know they blocked it at my job because it the network couldn't handle it. And while the network has been upgraded, I doubt they've enabled it again.

My job just decided that people are wasting too much time doing personal stuff online. Lots of harmless stuff is getting blocked and it's really annoying.
