Friday Five

I don't do the Friday Five very often, but this one grabbed me.

1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.
I was named after my mother's Great-Aunt Genevieve. Mom says that Dad thought that was too old-fashioned, and so they went with Jennifer instead. Elaine, my middle name, is after several people: it's the first name of one of Dad's cousins and the middle name of both one of Dad's sisters and one of Mom's sisters.

2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?
I have names that I like, but I'm not sure how I would combine them into first/middle pairs. For girls: Sonya, Cassandra, Louisa, Anne, Virginia, Elizabeth, Margaret, Marie. For boys: Jacob, Fredrick, Ernest, Royce, Karl, Edward, Richard. Most of them are family names or variations.

3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?
Mom tells me they were going to use Christopher Carl. Apparently my grandmother suggested that they could call me C.C. for short. Thankfully it wasn't necessary, but it did inspire my brother's nickname of K.C.

4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?
Genevieve. I think it's a prettier, less common version of Jennifer, and it has the advantage of being able to keep the same nickname. I wouldn't change my middle name.

5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly? People mangle my last name constantly, but Jennifer is pretty hard to mess up. About the worst that happens is people will spell Jenny with an "-ie" at the end rather than a "-y".
