jennythereader: (Book 001)
I'm listening to Oliver Twist at work today, and noticed something about the name of one of the secondary characters.

It's one of the young thieves, a boy named Charlie Bates. Combine that name with Dickens's habit of referring to his male characters as "Master Last-name," and you get a very unfortunate result.

I don't know if I would have noticed if I were reading the book instead of listening to it.

100 Books!

jennythereader: (* Bedside Reading)
I've reached 100 books entered over at LibraryThing. I've also been using LT for almost exactly 6 months, so now seems like a good time to look at my statistics.

I average 16 & 2/3 books a month.

78% of my reading is borrowed from the library.

75% of my reading is fiction.

56% of my reading is what I call speculative fiction. This includes science fiction, fantasy, and alternate history.

I read more non-fiction (27%) than I do fantasy (26%) or science fiction (24%). This surprises me.

Histories and historical fiction each make up 16% of my reading.

I have read at least one book from 22 different series in the last 6 months.

My average rating is 3.52 stars. I have rated 65 books with either 3 or 4 stars.

Any questions?
