jennythereader: (Books are the only true magic *)
Body: My left knee Both knees hurt like hell. Also my left hand hurts anytime I try to grasp anything, and my head feels like somebody stabbed me in several places with a ice pick. Advil isn't touching any of this. I think it's the cold.

Reading: I'm still working on Founding Brothers.

Hearing: The Overthinking It podcast

Wearing: Today's perfume is BPAL's CHIMERA From their Bewitching Brews line. They describe it as The fiery, volatile scent of cinnamon, thickened by myrrh, honeysuckle, and copal. This is another of my favorites. Sweet & cinnamon-y and beautiful.

I'm also wearing some very cool wool socks from sockdreams.com. I'd link to them, but work seems to have decided that the website is "R" rated and blocked it.
Edited in from home: These socks, in plum. They are nice and warm, but just like most of the other wool socks I've ever worn they're a hair looser on my foot than I like. I'm actually hoping they'll shrink just a tiny bit in the wash.

Etsy find: A really lovely shirt

Tonight's Project: I'm taking tonight off. Maybe Sims, maybe just a hot bath and a book.

Project Follow-up: I got a set of canisters for Mom's gift, and now I'm done with 95% of my shopping.

jennythereader: (* Chocolate Ice Cream *)
Because [livejournal.com profile] purpura asked for it:

Chocolate Crinkles from Betty Crocker's Cooky Book

1/2 cup vegetable oil
4 sq unsweetened chocolate (4 oz total), melted
2 cups granulated sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour, sifted
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

1 cup confectioners' sugar

Mix oil, chocolate, and granulated sugar. Blend in one egg at a time until well mixed. Add vanilla. Stir flour, baking powder, and salt into oil mixture. Chill several hours or overnight.

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Drop teaspoonfuls of dough into confectioners' sugar. Roll in sugar; shape into balls. Bake 10-12 minutes. Do not overbake! Makes about 6 dozen cookies.

My notes:
1) You really don't need as much powdered sugar as they ask for. I usually start with about 1/3 of a cup, and get out more if I need it.
2) When you take the cookies out of the oven they will look under-cooked. Let them sit for a couple of minutes on the baking sheet before you transfer them to a cooling rack.
