"Spoonful" by Catherine Russell

Female singer, accompanied by a banjo and a tuba. Good, but really not what you expect this song to sound like.

A "recipe."

I don't really measure anything for this, so amounts are approximations.

About 2 TBSP of butter
At least one onion at least as large as your fist, diced.
1-3 cups of vegetables. I usually use celery and/or carrots.
About 1 lb of ham, diced.
A generous amount of garlic.
2-3 cups of broth. I have used vegetable, chicken, and beef broth. All have worked well.
4+ cups of potatoes, diced. I have a 4 cup Pyrex measuring cup which I fill to overflowing.
Enough water that you can stir everything easily. Usually about 1 cup.

about 1 cup milk or cream
a small tub of sour cream (I forget how many ounces they are.)

I basically go down the list, adding each ingredient as I chop it. After you add the potatoes put the lid on and let it simmer until they are tender. I check every ten minutes, and it usually takes 20-30 minutes. Stir in the milk and sour cream.
