Why I am voting for Barack Obama:
Oct. 23rd, 2008 11:58 pmWhy I am voting for Barack Obama:
Because I am part of the 80% of America that will do better under his tax plan than under McCain's. A comparison of both candidate's tax plans.
Because he supports woman's rights to make their own decisions about reproduction.
Because he has opposed the Iraq war since the beginning and has a plan for bringing our soldiers home.
Because he has been in Washington long enough to know the ins and outs, but not so long that he has forgotten what things are like in the rest of the country.
Because as a practicing lawyer he specialized in civil rights law and fought for victims of housing and employment discrimination.
Because as a professor at the University of Chicago Law School he taught Constitutional Law, with a focus on due process and equal protection.
Because his choice for Vice-President has real foreign policy experience.
Because I believe him to be an intelligent, honest man who will put all of his considerable abilities to work for the betterment of our nation.
Because elite means the best. It is not an insult, instead it is what we as Americans should require our President to be.

Edit: Why are you voting for your choice? I would love to see more people write about why they are supporting the candidate they are.

Date: 2008-10-24 07:19 pm (UTC)If I still lived in Massachusetts I'd either write in Ron Paul or vote Bob Barr.
Being in NH, I'm likely to vote for McCain, but may still write in RP or vote BB.
The only right I am afraid as hell to see lost is the Second Amendment. It is the one right/amendment that can protect us in the long term.
As long as the second amendment is left intact, I/we have a lot more rights and freedoms than can ever be taken away. My great uncle was a hunter, until the Nazi's took away his rifles because it wasn't in the Nazi power. Then when they came for him, my great-aunt, and their children, they had nothing to help them say no.
Once the Second Amendment is taken away, the rest are soon to follow.

I'd rather "4 more years" of what I know, than 4 more years of what I am afraid to know.
