Has anyone else noticed how male singers in mainstream pop and pop-ish country all seem to be tenors? All the basses and baritones seem to end up in other genres.

See, when I posted this I was thinking of it as a recent trend, but upon consideration I realized that tenors have been the "star" male voice for a long time. Heck, look at opera.

Country seems to attract lots of the deeper voices these days.

Everyone's trying to emulate Johnny Cash. Which is not at all a bad thing.
