Yup. My former classmates and I will sometimes have conversations on Facebook about how odd it is to see him on the news.

That guy's a classmate of yours? I read his stuff all the time -- he's reprinted a lot in the Post (among other places) during election years. I like reading him -- he's fast becoming the God Of Wonks.

Yeah, we were in school together from 5th grade on. Heck, we were in some of the same gifted & talented programs in middle school. We were never best buddies, but if we ran into each other in the street we'd probably stop and chat.

He's a lot of fun to read. He writes exactly the way I like my experts to: he assumes that his readers are just as smart as him, and just happen to not know quite as much about the specific topic.
