Homemade Mints

I found this blog post a few weeks ago, and have been thinking about when I should try it for myself. This weekend it occurred to me that this might be a good project for kids, and since I'm going to be spending all of next week in Florida with Tom's siblings and their kids, I should bring the ingredients down with me and see if the small ones are interested in making their own candy some evening or rainy afternoon.

I'm going to bring mint flavoring, but I'm not sure what other flavors would be popular. Any suggestions?

If they don't have what you are looking for there is a candy shop on 9 and 20 in East Greenbush right next to the IHOP

I don't think I'll have a chance to get out there before we leave town, but I'll keep it in mind for future batches.

I don't know what it's called it's in the peter harris plaza there, right next to the IHOP. A very lovely and clean IHOP, I will add. They had some flavorings, loads of food dye. You also may want to try honest weight food coop. In there bakers section they have a whole bunch of flavorings.

I think I'll try the co-op first. They're a lot more convenient.
