I've decided that my current shop announcement, while having the advantage of brevity, isn't very interesting. I'd really like it if everybody could tell me which of the three following announcements they like better:

Current: Welcome to my shop! I sell decoupage boxes, picture frames, and other small things.

New Idea 1: Welcome to my shop! I use small pieces of pretty paper from a variety of sources to make patchwork collages. I then decoupage the collages to boxes, picture frames, and assorted other small things.

New Idea 2: Welcome to my shop! I decoupage small pieces of pretty paper to boxes, picture frames, and assorted other small things. The end design is usually similar to a patchwork quilt or a crazy quilt.

Of course, if you have any other ideas I'd love to hear them too.

I think you want to jazz it up a bit: "Imagine a crazy-quilt design on a picture frame, a box, or just about any other small thing -- that's what I do with small pieces of pretty paper."

That's just a suggestion, of course -- you can play with it however you like. I was trying to avoid the use of the word "decoupage," though -- on the theory that people who already know what it means don't need it. Everyone else, I think, would be better served by a description rather than the word itself.

(Unless you need it to come up in a search result -- then you do need the word "decoupage" in there somewhere.)

I don't think etsy uses the announcement for searches, but I'm not sure.

Emphasizing the result, rather than the technique, does seem like a good idea though.

At any rate, if someone Googles "decoupage," you want to come up in that search.

I think I'd have to get a lot more people linked to me before I had a chance of showing up in the first few pages of a google search.

Hmm, maybe use your sentence, and add something like "The craft is called decoupage, and I give a modern spin to this old technique."

Yeah, that works well. That was my first question, approaching this as someone with no knowledge of anything crafty: what is decoupage, and is it a noun or a verb?
