Tom & I are just back from a double feature at the Malta Drive-In.

Star Trek was just as good as everybody keeps saying. A great way to take the world in a different direction, without denying the TV shows or other movies. The only change I would have made would have been to let Lt. Uhura have more impact on the actual plot.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine was also good, but not quite as good. The big problem I had was with how they chose to use Gambit. He seemed like a very different sort of character than he was in the cartoon (which was my first exposure to the X-Men universe.)

Over all it was a good night.

I did like that they started her RIGHT OFF as an expert in her field -- right in that first encounter with Kirk. NOT just a glorified telephone operator.

Those two movies make a lovely double feature. I had only one real issue, but to name it would be spoilery, and they may have done it on purpose to prevent people from attempting to do in real life what supposedly happened in that scene, the way they used to modify MacGyver's undertakings, so I can live with it.

I've been thinking about it, and can't figure out what you took issue with. Would you tell me? I think this post is old enough now that it's unlikely to spoil anybody.

Sure thing. :) Hydrochlorothiazide, while it DOES decrease the blood pressure, does not do it in the way described -- or I would not be walking around every day. I take it; it makes you pee more, which reduces your blood pressure. In order to get the desired effect, you would have to take so much that permanent liver damage would be the least of your problems. There are, indeed, substances that do what they described, so I figure they picked HCTZ because it is a bloodthinner, but isn't one of the super-dangerous ones, and if someone tried it, in rational doses, it would not flatline the patient.

On the whole, though? We liked the movie a lot. So much that we saw it twice. Which, on our budget, is saying something. :)
