Swapping Stuff

(I swiped this idea from the BPAL forums.)

Is anyone out there interested in doing a circular swap with me?

Basically, the idea is that whoever starts it (probably me) fills a box with randomly cool stuff, and then sends it to the first person on the list.

When they get it, they go through the stuff, pick a few things to keep, add a few new randomly cool things, and send it on the the next person in line. Repeat until the box has made it to everybody. The last person sends it back to the first person, who keeps whatever is still in it.

If you're interested comment here with where you live (at least what state or country). Once at least 6 people have signed up I'll figure out what order the list will go in and post that and a few basic rules.

Added: So far, we have three yeses and a maybe. I need at least 3 more people to play!

Added, part 2: The rules I've come up with so far are:
1) Spend as little as possible. Make stuff, and raid your own stashes for craft supplies and randomly cool things to add to the box.
2) Things that edible should be clearly labeled with the ingredients.

Oh, that's such a great idea! I don't think I can commit, just because I am so financially on the edge right now, but I think it's a fine plan, and I'll be happy to do it next year!

Since one of the rules is going to be "spend as little as possible," and I plan on having each person send it to the closest person on the list, if you want to play you probably can afford it.

If not, than you will be more than welcome next time around.

I'd love to do it, but have to restrict to someone in the US, as international postage has gotten horrendous. (There's no more "slow" shipping, just priority. Have three packages to go to people, that I can't really afford to send.)

(Also, since some of what I'd like to send would be beadcraft, a female recipient would be... easier for me to figure things out for.)

Also - I don't think I'd buy anything - maybe small notebooks, but I do so many crafts... and homemade apple butter, or a mix for cranberry scones, or... this could be soooooo much fun...

So far everybody who is in lives in the US, so that shouldn't be a problem. If somebody from overseas does want to play maybe I'll ask everyone to chip in a dollar to put towards getting the package over the ocean.

Also, so far everybody who is in is female, so that shouldn't be a problem either.

It sounds like fun. I could possibly put some recipes or various other little things in there. I would like to know if there is a time factor at all, though, seeing as pretty soon I just might not have the time to get little things together for it. And having someone I could hand the box to would also make my life a lot easier. Due to.. you know.. baby stealing all my time in the very near future.

You, me, and dulcinbradbury are all local, so it seems reasonable for me to start it, give the box to you, you pass it on to dulcinbradbury, and then she mails it on to whoever is next closest.

Thank you, Sara! That brings us up to 6, which seems to me like the minimum it's worth doing for.

I'll do another post later today where we can figure out the mailing order and any other rules we decide we want.
