Body: This is definitely a cold. I'm drinking orange juice and hoping I'll at least be past the contagious stage by the weekend.

Reading: I'm still reading The Kalevala: Or Poems of the Kaleva District. One thing that has really struck me is how often a girl agrees to marry, and then just loses it at the idea of leaving her home and family. Not homesickness exactly, but the anticipation of homesickness leading to extreme depression and in the case of one character suicide.

Hearing: Dan Carlin's show Hardcore History (which my job blocks direct access to).

Etsy find: Hummingbird In Flight Necklace

Project Follow-up: Stops made and stuff acquired. I got a few things made, and discovered that my outfit doesn't quite work the way I had hoped. I think it's all fixable though.

Tonight's Project: Hitting the mall for a haircut, and looking for some bracelets. Then dinner w/friends, and hopefully more work on my outfit between dinner and bed.

Randomness: What's your favorite type of pickle? Personally, I like sweet and bread & butter pickles better than dill. The world's best pickles though, are the ones my great-grandmother used to make. Gramma Georgine never told anybody the recipe, but recently Mom found a recipe that she thinks will make something like them. Basically, you start with store bought dill pickles, and replace part of the liquid with a sugar syrup.

Oh, no. Kosher dills all the way. Feel better!

I have nothing against dill pickles, but one or two is always enough for me. With sweet or b&b, I can eat them like any other vegetable. At holidays at Gramma R's, she'll put a bowl of pickles on the table and everyone will take big spoonfuls just like they do with the corn or potatoes.

Maybe it's another example of my Mid-western showing. :-)

At the Carnegie Deli they put out giant bowls of Kosher dills, the way other restaurants put out bread -- and they keep bringing you more. And that is my New York Jew coming out. :)

I don't think I could do that. I wouldn't be able to taste anything but dill for a week.

You can have (most of) them. I'll be happy with just a couple.
