Body: Both knees are a little painful.

Reading: I started Ilium. I'm about 10 chapters in, and it's pretty good so far.

Hearing: All music, all day. My iPod is presenting me with mostly country today, for some reason.

Etsy find: Pretty blank book

Project Follow-up: I skipped walking, and forgot about the cordial, but dinner with friends was good.

Tonight's Project: Tom & I are going to a wine tasting with a couple friends.

Randomness: After a conversation with a friend, I'm doing actual research into something I've thought about for a long time: taking voice lessons. I'd love to really learn how to sing. I've found a few offers on Craigslist that look decent, and there's a whole website dedicated to offering private music lessons that I'm poking through.

You're right, Friday IS a superbeing. (An Artificial Person, to be exact.)

I get my silly titles by googleing, and this one came from a post about the book Friday. I wondered if anybody would recognize it.

I always wondered where you got those from.

"Friday" is one of my favorite Heinlein books. I'm surprised no one's tried to make a movie of it -- it'd make a great one.

It's better suited to the Hollywood process than most of his stuff that's been filmed.

Normally I google the phrase "[day of week] is" and pick something off the first page of results. Sometimes I have to look on a later page for something good.

Let's not even talk about Melrose Space Starship Troopers.

I guess I'll have to write that screenplay myself ...

I think it's a shame that nobody has ever filmed Starship Troopers.

And then there's that really bad thing that coincidentally has the same name. :)

Starship Troopers is really a bad choice for a movie. There's surprisingly little action in it, and what there is is kinda boring. The social theorizing is what makes the book worthwhile, and I can't see any way to put that into a movie.

It's been too long since I've read the book. I'll take your word for it about the action.

It never would have occurred to me to look on Craigslist for voice lessons. I'd love to hear about what you find. It's something I've been pondering as well. I really liked singing as a kid, before I realized how painful it apparently was for everyone around me. I still like singing, and would like to someday learn how... so that the idea of singing where other people could hear might become less horrifying.

It didn't really occur to me, either. But, some Craigslist posts came up when I googled it, so I checked them out.

There was one that looked pretty good, but I bookmarked it at work, not home, so I don't have the link for you..
