Nice to see C. L. Moore so far up. She was amazing, IMHO, though she did do a lot of collaborative writing with her husband, Henry Kuttner. I've read a few of her books.

I read somewhere that Margaret Atwood didn't like the label of "Science Fiction Writer." Mores the pity...

Isn't it? I'm tempted to print it out and use it as a reading guide.

I don't think I've read anything of her's, but I'm pleased with myself about how many of these authors I have read.

As for Margaret Atwood not liking being called an SF writer - too freaking bad. SF may not be the only thing she writes, but the books she's best known for all have either science fiction or fantasy elements.

Yeah, that's my opinion too.

I would recommend C. L. Moore's work highly, if you don't mind mid-century SF. I have a collection of her short stories, in particular, and love it.
