At one time, I wanted to visit very independent bookstore in the state, but I see absolutely no reason why we couldn't expand that to a National Tour, with Suitable Breaks for tasty bits in lovely restaurants.

(My hubby will tell you that's actually my retirement plan, but I've no aversion to starting early!)

Hmmm. What say we fly to San Francisco, catch a show at the Fillmore, and drive back to NY by way of New Orleans and Chicago, the two homes of the blues?

I've never been to the South. I'd like to go sometime, maybe in the early spring before it's too hot, just to see what it's like. It's the only part of the country I haven't visited (save for Texas).
