One Cat Still In Need of a Home:

Susie has a home!  The landlord's daughter successfully lobbied for them to take her themselves.  

Thanks to everybody for getting the word out.


This is Susie:

 

A little over a week ago, my former neighbors abandoned her and their other cat and walked away from their apartment.  Tom and I took responsibility for finding new homes for the cats.    My original post about it was here.

Today, Gretchen found a new home.  Susie still needs one.  She is about 6 months old, adorable and fluffy, but pretty shy.  She'd probably do best in a house without tiny kids or large dogs.

As far as I can tell from the paperwork the neighbors left behind she is fixed and has all of the shots she should at her age.

Please spread this link far and wide.  I really want her to find a good home.

I'm in the Albany, NY area, and I'd be willing to drive an hour or so if somebody was sure they could take her.

If somebody wasn't sure they'd need to come to me.

A friend suggested: "If she's really strapped, have her call Whiskers Animal Benevolent League. They're a terrific Albany based cat rescue/no-kill shelter. I got one of my cats from them (the other fell on me all helpless and in need of a home.) They have limited space, so they may not be able to take the cats if they're full up at the moment, but even if they can't take them right now they can help get the word out that they're in need of a home."

The issue isn't lack of money, but rather space. My husband and I live in a fairly small apartment and already have two high energy cats. We just can't keep a third cat.

If we can't find a home for her the landlord does plan on taking her to a no kill shelter, most likely the one she was originally adopted out of (the name of which I'm blanking on.)

If you're running up against a deadline and there are no takers and no no-kill shelters available, drop me email: dziwozony AT gmail DOT com. We can foster the kitten -- we have the space to keep her apart from our cats, and no deadline, and all of us can continue to try to find her a home. (If you can come an hour east, we can come 2 hours west -- we're in central MA.)

There are multiple good shelters in the area, so I think we'll be OK even if we can't find her a home by the time the landlord needs to get the apartment cleaned out for the next tenant. I'll get in touch if I'm wrong about that, though. :)

I'm not able to take her (I have five cats now), but I think it's great of you to try to get homes for these poor cats. Good luck! I'll mention this post on my journal, although actually no one read sit!

Actually, I got home from work today to discover that the landlord (or maybe his daughter) had decided to keep her. I hadn't had a chance to edit this post yet.
