i also reccomend this book for the bio of Laura Ingalls Wilder. It's excellent and inclues pictures.

I've read them all tons of times, but it's been a while and I want to get around to re-reading them.

I just went thru them myself not to long ago. 3 or 30, read or read to, they are still great stories.
On the way home and West From Home are written by Rose Wilder, right?

I think they were diaries of Laura's that she never intended to publish, but after she died her estate banged them into a readable format and published them anyway.

Awww...I love Laura Ingalls Wilder. The funny thing was, growing up in the West African bush, conditions were pretty much as basic for us as they were for pioneer folk, so when she talked about kerosene lamps and that sort of thing I knew exactly what she was talking about!

If I remember correctly, On the Way Home is about how she and Almanzo ended up settling in Missouri; while West From Home is about a trip she made to San Francisco in the early 1900's.
