One thing I'd like to do this summer is go to a good amusement park.

My first choice is probably Cedar Point, but as wonderful a park as it is, there are several major drawbacks. The main one is probably the simple fact that it's a six edit 5-7-06: eight hour drive away, which makes a camp-site or hotel necessary for at least one night and probably two. The distance also makes just getting there expensive, what with the cost of gas these days.
Arguments in favor of Cedar Point are: I've been there before and know that it's worth going back to; it's also about 6 hours edit 5-7-06: it's only 3 hours from East Lansing, so there is the chance I'd be able to talk some portion of my family into meeting me there; and admission is $10 less than to Six Flags (although that isn't much of a pro considering the ways it would be more expensive.)

My second choice is Six Flags New England. It's much closer (only 1.5 hours away), so there would be no need for a hotel and less gas used.
Arguments in favor of Six Flags are: It's close enough to day trip, I could probably talk friends into joining me, I could maybe talk some of Tom's family into joining me.

Oh, and there is also Hershey Park, Chocolate and rides!!! And Great Escape in Lake George that was fun regular rides and water rides in one place. Not too bad a drive we went up and back in a day (or is that the one in New Englad you are talking about get so confused with all the different names)And there is another one more water rides I think it was called something like Riverside or something, Jim took me there once. Have fun, can't do those things until Em is a little older. ~Sara

We did Great Escape last summer, and it was fun, but I feel like doing a bigger park this time around.

I just realized, Cedar Point is a little less than 5 hours from Chicago. I know that Emily is too little for any of the rides, but you could still come and have fun. You & Howie could just take turns with riding and baby watching.
