Or rather, highlights in an unnatural color.

I've been thinking about doing this for quite a while, and I finally have the appointment for this Saturday. The only problem is that I still haven't decided which color(s) to do. I'm leaning to a combination of dark blue and blue-green, but other opinions are always good.

For folks I haven't seen in real life, that's me in the icon. My hair is naturally dark brown, and it gets light brown/blonde highlights if I spend lots of time in the sun. I have blue-green eyes, and a light complexion.

Streaks and blendy parts, so it looks like sea glass. *lives vicariously*

I like that idea.

My spousal overunit did something like that -- streaked different blues and greens and purples. I called her a tropical fish for a while...but I like tropical fish :-)

I'm planning on a little more subtle than a tropical fish. Or maybe more like a tropical fish hiding in the seaweed. Unless you look from the right angle, you won't be sure you saw it at all.

I can tell you from experience that a strong blue will fade to a sea-green over time (assuming you lighten the hair & then dye it to get the real color). So, if you're on the fence, go darker & know you'll get the lighter eventually. :)

I did not know that. I'll factor it in. :)

Eventually, it'll fade out to blond too. I had a near white-streak by the time my blue faded out completely. :)

I couldn't resist clicking red and purple on principle. I have a coworker with coloring similar to yours, and she looks great with dark blues. The blue will quickly fade lighter and greener, though.

If I were going for a natural color I'd probably do auborn or some other shade of red.

I'm going to have to get some special shampoo to preserve the color, aren't I?

I'm not sure how well color-save shampoos really work, but I use them. The real trick is to go as long as possible without washing your hair, which drives me crazy.

That will be tough. I start feeling awful if I don't wash my hair at least every other day.

My vote is dark purple, of course... Cause that's me.
but I think you'd be happiest in the dark purple.
