This evening Tom & I signed a lease on a house in Albany's South End. It's a Craftsman style bungalow, built in 1929. We'll be in walking distance of Spectrum Theater, several good restaurants, a weekly farmer's market, and a branch of the library. It has a not-too-small backyard that is wonderfully shaded by some beautiful old maple trees and a nice little paved patio where we can put a grill. At my request, the landlord is setting up a clothesline for us. There's an attic, a basement, and an enclosed front porch. The kitchen has enough counter space for multiple projects to happen at once and is separate from the dining room. There is a washer, a dryer, and an upright freezer, along with lots of pantry space.

We get the keys on July 20th, and will start moving our stuff as soon as we can.

We'll be sharing the house with our friend Kailey, who will be moving down from Vermont as soon as possible after we get the keys.

I forgot to bring my camera with me tonight, but I'll post pictures as soon as I can.

Very much oooooh. We're sort of looking at it as the training wheels version of home ownership. We'll do as much of the work of maintaining the place as we can, but the landlord (who is a professional carpenter/handyman) will be there for backup if we run into something beyond our skills.

It's not perfect: the actual bedrooms are teeny-tiny, so Tom & I will be using what should be the front sitting room as our bedroom; while Kailey will take a room that the landlord carved out of the basement. The official bedrooms will be offices/libraries/craft rooms.

Cool! I know that area. I used to live a ways up Delaware.

Cool. That part of town seems to be on the upswing, so I think we'll like living there pretty well.

Yay! For some reason I had my theaters mixed up and thought the place was elsewhere. Walking distance from the Spectrum? *jealous* That's a pretty nice neighborhood too. Like I said, any moving help you guys need, let us know.

You got it and the Madison theater confused? That happens. :)

The big, "Lets get all the furniture moved" push probably won't happen till after Pennsic, but I'm sure we'll be asking for all the help we can get then.
