Tom is definitely improving. His pulse rate was down to 76 last night, and his BP was also lower (although I don't remember the exact number.)

At this point it sounds like they are going to switch him from Heparin to Enoxaparin (Lovenox®). The up side to the switch is that he could come home much sooner, maybe even today. The (small) down side is that he would need twice daily injections for about a week. We tried to find his nurse last night so she could show me how to do them, but she hadn't made it back to his room by the time they kicked out the visters.

He's mostly in good spirits, and really looking forward to the idea of coming home soon.

He still welcomes visitors, but please call him (262-0190) or me (727-8211) first to confirm that it will be a good time.

I'm glad he's doing better. The hospital probably won't send him home without showing him or you how to do the injection. They don't when it's a diabetic that's never used insulin before so I'd assume they'd do the same for Lovenex. If by some chance they don't though, whatever pharmacy you get it filled at should be able to show you too. I know the one I worked at we always asked with injectables if the customer had been shown how to use it.

Still planning on coming tonight unless Tim's schedule implodes or you say Tom's not up to it. Will call before we show up. In the meantime *hugs*.
