A Poem I wrote when I was 15:

To be as you are is to love -
like the times you are there
when I need you.
To be as you are is to tell
the truth - even when you
don't want to.
To be as you are is to believe
in me - even when I don't
deserve it.
To be as you are is to be
looked up to - and worthy
of it.
To be as you are is to have
patience - like all the times
I've been a nuisance
but you didn't show your anger.
To be as you are is to give -
expecting no more than a
thank you in return.
To be as you are is to be
tired - but always ready
to help others.
And even though I don't
always show it - I want
to be as you are.
I wrote that for my Gramma B when I was 15. I never posted about it, but over this past Memorial Day weekend she had a stroke, and while she was in the hospital recovering from that she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. I hope she knows that every word of that poem is still true.
The thing about this poem, is that while I wrote it for Gramma B, it really applies just as well to everyone I love.
