I found the Tea Tree oil, brought it home and dabbed it on the power cords that the cats had been chewing on.

It worked like a charm! The both backed off right away, and I don't think either of them has gone within 2 feet of that outlet since.

So, what were the cats doing that you had to resort to chemical warfare?

They were chewing on the power cords to my alarm clock, reading lamp, and the air conditioner. I could chase them off when I was in the bedroom, but I was terrified that they'd electrocute themselves some time when I wasn't there.
