Yet another attempt to get more exercise
Sep. 20th, 2011 02:46 pmOver the years, I've noticed two things about myself:
1) If exercise starts to feel like a chore, I won't do it. (This is what derailed my last attempt.)
2) If I don't get a little bit of time to decompress as soon as I get home I spend the rest of the evening vaguely grouchy and off balance.
What I've done for a long time is sit down at my desk as soon as I walk through the door and spend 15 minutes goofing off online. Then I'd get up, make dinner, and do whatever other chores I had planned for the evening.
Lately, that doesn't seem to be doing the trick.
So, taking into account point 1, I've decided to combine my decompress time with my exercise attempt and go for a short walk around the neighborhood every day as soon as I get out of the car. I won't even go into the house first (unless I'm wearing the wrong shoes or outerwear for the weather.)
This addresses point 1 by turning the exercise into a treat, and addresses point 2 by guaranteeing me alone time every day.
