I feel like I've gotten into a reading rut.

Recommend me something! Fiction or non, online or published, whatever you're enjoying lately.

Include links, either to the site or to Amazon if it's for sale.

I've been reading it sort of off-and-on. It's a little mind-bendy, but good.

Would you like a small package of random books from my library overflow?

It would appear after the holidays. It would be quite random. It would be books that I thought enough of to buy and lug with me through two moves(I haven't moved often, so some of these books date back 20+ years).

ETA - and this might get me off to finally pack and send the other shiny bits that I offered you before I got on my crocheting binge.

As long as it's not too many books. Shelf space is already at a premium around here. :)

I've read parts of it. I keep stalling out fairly early on.

So did I. I don't particularly like Rational!Harry, though about twenty-thirty chapters in he gets somewhat less insufferable. It's a clever idea and very well written. I did read 70-odd chapters but that was because I'd made a promise that I would read it if Sailor Gryffindor made an appearance. I was rooked, so I am no longer reading. But he's got good writing talent.

I presume you've read everything of mine, and unfortunately I've read almost NOTHING in the last few years, aside from Burger_Eater's "Child of Fire".

Nero Wolfe kicks ass.

He's also one of the models/inspirations for one of the characters in my writing (who will first be seen publicly in my forthcoming Phoenix Rising.

I've been meaning to read some of the Nero Wolfe books for a while, so I got several of the Kindle samples of those. Thanks!

I already like Stephanie Plum and Peter Wimsey.

Kerry Greenwood; two mystery series, Phryne Fisher, set in the 1920s and Corinna Chapman, contemporary. Both set in Melbourne. They're not available for kindle in North America, alas, but many libraries have them. The first Phryne Fisher: http://www.amazon.com/Cocaine-Phryne-Fisher-Mysteries-Paperback/dp/159058385X/ref=sr_1_27_title_0_main?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1324673978&sr=1-27 or an omnibus of the first 3 books: http://www.amazon.com/Introducing-Honorable-Phryne-Fisher-Greenwood/dp/1590589726/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1324674023&sr=1-4

The first Corinna Chapman book: http://www.amazon.com/Earthly-Delights-Corinna-Chapman-Mystery/dp/1590585143/ref=sr_1_18?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1324674064&sr=1-18

Susan Sizemore's Memory of Morning : http://www.amazon.com/Memory-of-Morning-ebook/dp/B005GQLJUS/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1324674200&sr=1-1

And if you're in a mood for historical fiction I highly recommend Roberta Gellis.

How do you feel about Age of Sail slash? I can link you to a really amazing series I found on AO3, but if slash isn't your cup of tea, I can come up with something else.

If you do like it, here: http://archiveofourown.org/series/240. AllI can say is OMG.

If it's too many books, you can pass them on to someone else who might like them. Or to the library book sale. No need to keep what doesn't fit on your shelves.

I added the Phryne Fisher omnibus to my wishlist, and I'll keep my eyes open for it at the library. Thanks!

Slash isn't my favorite thing, but sometimes it grabs me. I'll check out the site.

Other recs are also welcome, especially if they're work safe.

I forget what it's called, but there's a Twilight fic out there with a similar premise: Make Bella into a rational human being, who is sometimes a little too rational for common sense. It's pretty good. Better than the little bit of the actual books that I've read, at least.

Also only on Kindle - to my dismay because I'd love to buy a paper copy to add to the library's collection: http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Lord-Lady-Hetheridge-ebook/dp/B004UB0WTY/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1324737502&sr=1-1

I'm eagerly awaiting a sequel, next year.

Oh, and the first books I bought for my Kindle were Shanna Swendson's Enchanted, Inc. series. Urban fantasy, but the tone is more like chick-lit than noir. http://www.amazon.com/Enchanted-Inc-Novel-Chandler-ebook/dp/B000FCK5XA/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1324945713&sr=1-1

I'll just get the samples. If you lend them I probably won't get around to reading them before it expires. Thanks, though.
