There's a lot of awful stuff going on in the world right now. I'm fighting really hard to not get cynical about it.

This particular recording of Pete Seeger's song "Well May The World Go" is being especially helpful. Lyrically any version of the song makes pretty good mental medicine, but this version also includes Pete himself talking about some of the wonderful things that have happened in his lifetime that no one ever expected. To me, that's magic.

If you can I strongly recommend buying it. If you really can't buy it right now let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.

Pete is just a marvelous man. Closest thing I've ever known to a saint. His songs make me laugh, cry, and most importantly, hope. I wish he was my grandpa.

I actually got to see him perform last summer. It was amazing.

I went to the Clearwater Festival in upstate New York in 2009. I only got to see him perform from a long way off, though, and it was raining at the time. Still, it was neat just to be there. I've been a Pete fan for as long as I can remember. My favourite albums of his are "God Bless the Grass" and "We Shall Overcome". I have a VHS of a ~1978 Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie concert that has been my comfort viewing since I was about 12 or 13.

I was at last year's Clearwater Festival. It was such a blast. I'm thinking about going this year, but I need to look at both my budget and how many vacation hours I'll have at that point.

One of the first albums I fell in love with was the concert Precious Friend (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000002KNA/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=occasrefleons-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000002KNA)Image, which he did with Arlo Guthrie in 1981.
