Today's Music Lesson

Not only do I dislike the music Bjork makes, I also dislike the music she listens to.

To be fair, I might have liked these songs if they were interspersed with selections that were more my style. All in a row like this, though... Not for me.

Yeah, I know lots of people who love Bjork, but to me it always sounds like she's being given a root canal with no anesthetic (or maybe it just feels that way to me).

She has everything I dislike about Rush (especially no feeling of emotional content in the music), and none of the things I do like about them (clever lyrics and technical ability).

I probably shouldn't be surprised that I disliked all of her choices for the Guest DJ show.

Ooh, yeah, I just listened to a couple of them. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but I kind of like songs to have melody, harmony, AND rhythm. These folks seem to think you can leave one or two of those things out.

90% of the stuff that All Songs Considered plays is pretty good, or at least interestingly not to my taste.

That last 10% though...
