I'm having baking issues...

I've been on a bit of a baking bender lately, but it's not going so smoothly. Everything seems to be taking longer than the recipe calls for. Some brownies that should have taken 20-25 minutes were still not quite done in the center when I took them out after 35 minutes. My current theory is that the temperature dial isn't accurate.

Can anyone out there loan me a oven thermometer so that I can test this theory?

I don't think they're terribly expensive--why not just purchase one, unless you have a lot of nearby friends in this community?

Don't worry about it. Lord knows that's one of the biggest weaknesses of LJ, it's sometimes easy to lose track of who posted what where.

As for borrowing, about 1/3 the folks on my flist are at least semi-local and a bunch of them are serious cooks who probably own a thermometer. Why buy if I don't have to?

Oh, definitely--but see, I was coming from the perspective of thinking you were posting in a *cooking* community asking to borrow somebody's thermometer and my mind was boggling at the trouble that would entail with shipping, etc.!
