One Half Buddhist, One Half Christian, One Half Pagan

We are home. The con was fun, if not something I'd want to do every weekend. I spent most of my time hanging out with nounsandverbs and purpura, with other folks wandering by on a regular basis. There were a lot of amazing things for sale, and a lot of people wearing unbelievable costumes. There were half a dozen performance spaces, with bands going pretty much all the time. Two that I caught and liked were The Gypsy Nomads and Coyote Run.

I had two different special outfits. I know there were pictures taken of at least one of them. If the pictures get sent to me, I'll show them off.

I think my biggest problem was that the schedule was really badly written, so it was tricky to figure out what was happening where and when, and almost impossible to find out more information than just the name of an act.

As far as my cold goes, I think I'm sicker tonight than I was when we left on Friday.

Body: Stiff neck and right shoulder

Reading: I started If The Buddha Dated, which was recommended to me as full of good advice for existing relationships as well as beginning ones, and platonic relationships as well as romantic ones. We'll see. So far, it's a little new-agey for my taste.

Hearing: Celtic Roots Radio and Dan Carlin's show Common Sense

Project Follow-up: Jar gotten, and strawberry cordial started. Also, I found these playing card themed buttons from Dress It Up. They're exactly what I've been looking for for my Wicked Faire outfit. I bought two packages. Some will be jewelry, and others will be tacked randomly to the bodice. The dice and dollar signs will go into the button box and be used someday.

Tonight's Project: I need to get the stuff together for my next Swap-bot swap. This is a supply swap, so I just have to go through my stash and pick out things that fit the theme.

Randomness: Where do you get your news? I mostly get mine from audio sources. I listen to public radio on WAMC when I'm in the car and to bunches of current event news and commentary podcasts. I also glean news from what people are posting about in LJ, and occasionally go do research on something that seems especially interesting or relevant to my life.

Body: Low grade aches, but nothing particularly bad.

Book Review: I finished The Great Influenza. I strongly recommend it to everybody who is at all interested in 20th century history.

Reading: I went straight to sleep after finishing The Great Influenza without starting anything new.

Hearing: All About Books, my backlog of The Associated Press on Broadway for which I cannot find a website, the Lake Woebegon monologues from A Prairie Home Companion.

Etsy find: Knotwork Heart Pendant

Project Follow-up: I found some red diamond shaped beads at the store in Saratoga, but not clubs or spades. I've declared that enough. I also decided that my raspberry cordial had aged enough and tried it. It's a little strong, but pretty good. Much more raspberry candy than fresh berries though.

Tonight's Project: I'm going to run up to Michaels and buy another big canning jar, and then start a strawberry cordial. Once that one is started I think I'm going to wait a while before I start any more. Given how little Tom & I drink (except for wine, lately), I have several months supply either finished or in progress.

Randomness: I spent several hours yesterday poking around the Wold Newton Universe website. It's based on an idea that Philip Jose Farmer sketched out in a couple of books, and is an amazingly interesting timesink. Among other things, it explains how Tarzan and Doc Savage are related to each other, as well as to every other great pulp fiction character out there.

Body: Headache-y and my GI tract is not happy with me. I may end up going home early.

Reading: Still reading Shakespeare's play As You Like It.

Hearing: Still working through my backlog of The Roadhouse. I'm starting to get a little blues-d out, so I'm probably going to switch to something else tomorrow.

Etsy find: A reversible necklace, with a blue bird on one side, and silver grass on a green background on the other.

Tonight's Project: Even if I don't leave early today, I'm not going to stay late. When I get home I need to try on my Wicked Faire outfit, figure out what I still need to buy, and work on making my accessories.
