Tom and I just got back from seeing The Producers. We both loved it. Lane and Broderick were both perfect and Uma Thurman did very well with what is something of a one-note character. Will Ferrell was wonderful as Franz Liebkind, the Nazi-in-denial playwright.

I hadn't heard an audience laugh that much at a movie in literally years. All the best jokes from the original non-musical version were kept, as well as some new jokes for modern audiences and some jokes that wouldn't have worked in any format other than a musical. It's rated PG-13, but most of that seems to be for innuendo that I think would be over the heads of younger children anyway.

If you like musicals, go see this! One of the few movies I've seen in the last few months where I felt I got more than my money's worth.

Rating: 10 out of 10.

I'm so glad you liked it! (My big brother worked on it. He's "Music Produced By" in the credits.)

That's really cool. I don't remember noticing the name, but I'll look for it when we get the DVD or the soundtrack.

I just can't believe we haven't seen it yet. Though I think I will put it on pre-order allready!

My mom and I were in hysterics too - I've never seen the stage show or non-musical, so can't compare, but we loved it!

I think the part that stands out *most* in my mind are the maidens with giant German symbols on their heads...the sausage in particular.

They were great!

You should try to get your hands on the original movie. It was Mel Brooks' first movie, and I think it was Gene Wilder's as well.

You remember the first scene with Bloom getting hysterical and scared of Max? As funny as Broderick was there, Wilder was even better.
