Arid Air

I've had a bottle of ice water (Friday's Coke bottle, filled with water and stuck in the office freezer over the weekend) sitting on my desk since I got in this morning. It's mostly melted at this point, but there's something weird going on.

The outside is bone dry. There must not be any moisture in the air in this building at all.

No wonder my skin and eyes always feel dry enough to hurt.

Ugh, that's awful. My workplace is the same way -- and it's usually freezing to boot. It's hell on the sinuses.

It's pretty bad. On the other hand, at least it got me to realize "Oh, that's why I always get home feeling as if I've had a blow-dryer pointed at my eyes for the last 8 hours."

That's also probably why my eye doctor is obsessed with "YOU MUST USE ARTIFICIAL TEARS ALL THE TIME." And why I should get over my contrarian instincts and actually use them.

My eye doctor keeps asking if I use eye drops, but never tells me if I should or shouldn't.

Mine practically shoves free bottles of the stuff into my hand every time I go.
