I'm seriously starting to wonder if I need a cane.

Every single time I stood up today I thought I was going to fall right back down. My right hip just wasn't working right. Combine frequent but irregular hip pain with almost constant knee pain of varying severity, and it seems like I spend more days limping than I do walking normally.

I'm really tired of hurting.

a cane can help. but it doesnt stop pain. it does however give you something to lean on, and a visual cue to others to not bump you.
mind you its one more thing to manage.

if yu can.. add flax seed oil to your diet, it helps me...

I figure it might help with the pain somewhat by spreading my weight out a little bit more. The pain is more on the first few steps I take after I stand up than it is actually at the moment of standing. But yeah, mostly I want it because if I ever do start to fall I might not have a convenient chair or wall to catch myself on.

Today in particular has been hideous for my pain issues... perhaps the weather demons hate us?

Oh honey, I hear you. And more limping will mean more imbalance. Can you get physical therapy or some accupuncture?

That's a possibility. Change in temperatures, change in pressure... it could explain things.

I had physical therapy for my knees a few years ago, and it did seem to help for a while. Maybe it's time to try that again.

Acupuncture scares the living daylights out of me. I don't deal well with one needle being stuck into me for a second. Many needles being left in me... not so much.

The arthritis will get better in a few months, when the weather settles into Summer.

PT is probably your best choice. From experience, I know that the more you excercise (in the right way) these things, the better off they are.

I don't think it is arthritis. The knee pain definitely isn't, and I'm pretty sure the ankle and hip pain is related to the knee pain.

When I started going to my current doctor he mentioned that arthritis might be causing my pain and did a blood test to look for... something. (Either evidence of inflammation or immune disorder, but I don't remember which.) Either way, it came up negative, which he said means it isn't arthritis.

Cool in one way, bad in another, in that you don't know what it IS. I hope it gets better!

I have a cane, and it has done wonders for me when I have needed the support. It also, like someone else said, gives a visual cue that you are having some trouble, for people not to bump you, or to give you more time.
