What's the best book you've read this month?

The best I've read was Gone Away World by Nick Harkaway. It's surreal science fiction about the devastating aftermath of a war in which horrible weapons were used. The characters are wonderful and the author throws in some really cool and unexpected twists.

As highly praised as Rushdie is Satanic Verses is the only book of his I enjoyed. All the others have fallen victim to my 100 page rule.

If it doesn't grab you in the first hundred pages, it's gone?

I figure any author worth their salt should be able to grab my attention by then. If not then back to the library they go.
