Firefox no longer seems to be working on my computer here at work. I think the tech folks have disabled it. This won't stop my LJ activites, but it will make them more difficult. I may end up stopping the daily State of the Jenny post, and reading/commenting on my flist may get even more sporadic.

Yeah, me too. I think if the version of Exploror that we use had tabs things would continue as normal. But it doesn't so they don't.

Where I work we have the newfangled IE with tabs -- but if you have too many open, the machine locks up. Always fun when that happens during breaking news.

I can imagine. How many computers have taken up flying in response to user frustration?

Depends on which writer's sitting in front of them. But I can think of a few likely candidates. :)

Check with the tech people to be sure. If you say you have Firefox for when Explorer hangs/slows or to double check whether something is an Internet problem or an Explorer problem, they might let you keep it. (Particularly if you're using an older version of Explorer.)

That was my explanation for installing it on the Reference Desk computers, and there are times when it really helps.

And if they DIDN'T disable it, they need to know there's a problem.

I've asked them before about problems with Firefox, and they said I'm not supposed to have it, but they wouldn't do anything about it unless ordered to by someone higher up. I guess they were told to do something about it.

I might try Opera or Chrome.
