jennythereader: (Book 001)

Body: I feel like I'm coming down with a cold and my knees are giving me all sorts of random stabs of pain.

Book Review: I re-read the second of Laurell K. Hamilton's Merry Gentry books last night. I've been in the mood for books I don't have to think about the last few days.

Reading: I know started a new book... but I don't remember what it was. I think I should have turned the lights out a little earlier.

Hearing: I listened to an episode of Escape Pod, and now I'm just playing music.

Project Follow-up: skip

Tonight's Project: My plan is to attempt Ratatoullie for the first time. This is the version I'll be trying. It seems fairly easy. After dinner I may start a new knitting project. I've got a couple skeins of a lovely light purple worsted weight wool that seems to be crying out to be a scarf or a shawl. Send me links to super easy (free) patterns?

Randomness: What musicians are on your "I must see them before they (or I) die" list? For me, the only two must sees are Pete Seeger and B.B. King. Luckily, living where I do increases the odds that I'll actually get the chance. :)

Easier, French-style ratatouille: chop up all those veg (but fresh tomatoes make a HUGE difference)...saute the onions/garlic, then the eggplant/zucchini, then add the tomatoes, salt, basil, thyme, pepper. Don't cover. Just leave to simmer on medium-to-low until the eggplant/zucchini is soft.

Serve hot or room-temp, over pasta, with freshly grated parmesan or romano.

P.S. I can't remember if I've asked--are you on Ravelry? I found the Boneyard shawl there. It's dead easy, and you don't even have to do the fancy invisible increase if you don't want. Yarn overs would be just as pretty.

I was planning on replacing the canned tomatoes with fresh. I always do, when I have them. Your version does seem even easier. And it would mean I wouldn't have to stop at the store for the mozerella or ravioli.

I am on Ravelry (jennythereader there). I'll take a look at that pattern.

I agree with the above.

My only addition would be sauteeing some lardons/bacon cubes in the pan before the onions & garlic, if you're not vegetarian. Adds a *world* of flavor.

I'm really craving ratatouille now!

Great idea!

Bob Dylan, either of the surviving Beatles, or the Who if Pete Townshend's ears haven't completely failed him by now ...

They would all be amazing to see, but it wouldn't break my heart to learn that they had passed without my seeing them.

Now, the fact that John Lennon was dead before I was aware of any music beyond "The Itsy-Bitsy Spider"? That does break my heart just a little.

I've seen and met Pete Seeger. Not only did I work a show he did at College, but I met him on the train once when I commuted to the City.

He plays in this area a lot, keep an eye out for it! Although in resent years, well, he's gotten old and his performances aren't what they used to be.

I know that when he performs at all it's more or less local to you, but I never seem to hear about his shows until the day after they happen.
