Which ones weren't my favorites might be a better question. :)

There are books everyone knows that I've loved as long as I can remember, like Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House series, Louisa May Alcott's Little Women and its sequels, the Oz books, and so many more.

There are the books that it seems almost nobody has heard of, but which I love as much as the more popular ones. Elizabeth Enright's books about the Melendy family (the first book is The Saturdays), Hitty Her First Hundred Years by Rachael Field, Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfeild and its sequels, and too many others to list.

I too would have a terrible time trying to list them all. I also loved the Ballet Shoes series- I think Dancing Shoes was my favorite. I read all the Little House and Anne of Green Gables books. Other favorites were the Green Knowe series especially the first one and the River at Green Knowe. Another book I remember adoring was something like Under Plum Lake.

I also read a lot of more old fashioned series - the Bobsey Twins, Bunny Brown and His sister Sue, The Outdoor Girls, everything by Louisa May Alcott. (It probably helped that I collected old chidlren's books.)

Someday when I have a house and thus more room I look forward to going through my parents attic and recovering all of these lost treasures!
