100 Years After A Tragedy
Mar. 25th, 2011 09:59 amToday is the 100th anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. 146 people, mostly young women, mostly recent immigrants, mostly Jewish and Italian, died.
Every time you complain about "regulations stifling American businesses" remember that those laws exist to prevent disasters like this one. Every time you wonder about how other countries can produce things so much cheaper than we can here, remember that it's in part because they don't have laws to protect workers from this sort of tragedy.
