1) My iPod is playing me music again! I didn't change anything, but I don't know if Tom changed anything on the music server or if it just had a change of heart.

2) I really need to get (or make) a good pair of fingerless gloves. I'm wearing an improvised pair as part of my Halloween costume, and am amazed at what a difference they're making. If anybody knows a really simple knitting pattern for some, send me the link.

3) Friday night I made this dish for dinner. It was... a little on the bland side. That might have been because I used the wrong type of mustard, or because I used more stock than I should have. I'll do some tweaking before I make it again. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] shadesong for originally posting the link to the recipe.)

I took pictures of the fabric :) (http://rhondaparrish.livejournal.com/605793.html) now I just need to get it in the mail.

I have both with-finger-slots and without-finger-slots patterns. Which are you looking for?

I've never knit anything from a pattern before, so whichever is the easiest. I suspect that will be the style without finger slots.

Absolute simplest is no pattern at all:

Garter stitch a rectangle with a length as wide as you want the mitt to be tall (say, mid-wrist up to knuckles). Knit that width until you can wrap it sideways (cast-on edge becomes the vertical) without too much stretching from level with your thumb, around your hand and back to meet at the thumb. Cast off. Stitch together into a tube, leaving a gap for your thumb to get through. If I can dig up my pair like that, I'll send a picture.

That said, if you're feeling brave enough for a set-in thumb (but still no finger slots), the "Fetching" pattern from Ravelry a couple years back is beautiful and simple -- I wore a pair of mitts in that pattern to your wedding celebration in the park. :)

That does sound wonderfully simple. And like it wouldn't use much yarn, so I could use one of my beautiful expensive skeins for it.

That is exactly why I used that not-pattern; I had a 100-yard skein of handspun, hand-dyed, bought for me by [livejournal.com profile] marlenemcc from a spinner/dyer we both know, and I wanted to get a whole something-I-can-use out of it. So I did wee mitts.

I may do this tonight. I finished my last "no-brainer project" last night, so I need a new one.
