In the interest of trying to be healthier, I'm trying (again) to make some changes to my life:

1) STOP EATING AT MCDONALD'S EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! OK, I don't do it every day, but 9 out of 10 is still too high.

2) Take a walk every day. At the park if the weather is good, at the mall if it's not.

3) Start yoga or some other very gentle, more about stretching than anything else exercise. Probably with videos until I'm reasonably sure it's something I want to do enough to spend the money on a class.

STOP EATING AT MCDONALD'S EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!

That sentence is too long by three words :-)

These are all good changes to make. The thing about videos, though, is that the instructor isn't in the room with you -- so if the exercise isn't working in some way, you can't discuss that with the instructor and make changes. Maybe just go to one class at a time at first? The money saved by not eating at McDonald's every day ought to offset the cost somewhat. :)

That's the eventual goal, but one step at a time.

By "Probably with videos until I'm reasonably sure it's something I want to do", I meant get a video from the library and try it two or three times this week. If it seems to be possible than I'll start looking for a class this weekend.

I'm actually not sure where you live. I do have to say that TroyYoga's Monday mixed-level class is only $10 to drop-in & is pretty good, if you decide you want to do Yoga regularly.

I'm in Albany.

That class does sound like it might be what I'm looking for. What time is it?

Ah, that sounds like a plan.

I'm doing WW, and manage to fit the occasional McD's trip into my diet. There are two keys to making it work. Don't eat french fries. Pretty much ever. And stick to chicken. A grilled chicken wrap is tasty and low in points and calories. After a little while, you get used to the smaller portions and don't miss it anymore.

I've got other tricks for eating smart on a busy schedule (I'm a grad student, and typically have to eat out/on the road frequently), so if you'd like some ideas, let me know. :-)

The problem is that I usually give in to temptation and stop for breakfast on the way in. There are a lot fewer healthy-ish options on the breakfast menu.

Part of my plan to resist temptation is to start making homemade muffins or similar grab and go breakfast food.

Thomas English Muffins are the perfect thing to make egg sandwhiches in.

I had a diet where they actually had me eat at McDonald's, just the egg sandwhich - no sausage. It wasn't the best diet ever, I must say.

Hmm... if I can promise myself a homemade Egg McMuffin on the weekend, and have something healthyish right in the car to actually satisfy the hunger pangs, I might have an easier time resisting the drive-in.

Even better for breakfast is just fruit. I often eat only a bunch of strawberries for breakfast, or whatever else is handy. They digest quick, so you get fast fuel, and you can eat a lot of them since they are both good for you and low calorie.

Breakfast at McDonald's can be done, but you've got to be disciplined. A plain Egg McMuffin is 6.5 points, only 300 calories. Not too bad, so long as you don't get anything else. Add a sausage to it and the counts double. Getting a bagel also ups the count.

There are ways to get creative as well. Hash browns by themselves are only 3 points, 140 calories. Add fruit to that and it's a pretty good breakfast. I've done that one before on my way in to school. :-)

I already keep granola bars in my desk at work. What I think I'll do is keep another box in the car where I can reach them. That way, when I see McDonald's and get hungry, I can just lean over and grab something else.
